Fireworks Popping and Other Things

For the first time in my life, I heard fireworks popping across the river when the clock struck 12:00am on Jan. 1, 09. Even before I lost all my hearing, I couldn't hear them popping across the river. Sadly, I couldn't see them because the trees were blocking the view. But I could hear them and I was amazed at how much my hearing has improved since I got the cochlear implant turned on.

I have also noticed that I have been able to clearly hear most of the words to the songs I listen to on my mp3 player. Most of time, I thought they didn't say a word or two, but now as I take my dog jogging, I can hear the words I thought they skipped. Although I'm not sure if it's related to actually listening closer to the song or hearing better.

Not all products are made equally, and I tend to choose Samsung cell phones over other brands and Sony mp3 players. The main reason is that these two brands work the best with my implant. I had some difficulties hearing out of other phones but Samsung just always seem to be better, even before I lost all my hearing.

I look forward to more things to hear that I haven't heard before. It always lifts my head.
